Tungsten Carbide Rings FAQ

There are some frequent asked questions (FAQ) for tungsten carbide rings and bands. Some typical questions are given by Tungsten Republic to help customers.

Q. How can I ensure the correct ring size?

A. Before placing your order please confirm the proper finger size. All of tungsten carbide rings here are standard sizes and comfort fit. A comfort fit ring will fit looser on the finger because it is not flat on the inside but rather rounded. Therefore when you are getting sized please use the narrow finger size which is 3 mm wide, (as opposed to the wider one of 6.5 mm.) This will provide an accurate finger size. Do not use the wider finger size as your ring will fit too loosely.

Q. Can a Tungsten Carbide Ring be re-sized?

A. Tungsten rings CANNOT be re-sized like a gold, silver or platinum ring. The tungsten is too hard for conventional jewelers' tools.

Q. How should I clean and care for my tungsten ring?

A. Your tungsten carbide ring requires little care. If your ring is 100% tungsten carbide high polished your ring will remain high polished forever. If your ring has a finish you may get some micro scratches. The tungsten didn't scratch: rather, the metal it rubbed against embedded itself in your ring. In most cases a tooth brush and mild detergent will remove the foreign material.

Q. Are tungsten rings hypoallergenic?

A. Most tungsten rings are hypoallergenic for people because our tungsten rings are cobalt free. But we cannot make sure every tungsten band is hypoallergenic for everyone as it contains nickel and a few people are allergenic for nickel.

Q. Tungsten Rings vs Stainless Steel Rings?

A. Tungsten is twice as heavy as stainless steel. But some people still love them because it is not so light that when it comes off they know.

Q. What is Tungsten Carbide?

A. Tungsten has the highest melting point of all the elements at 6,700 degrees F (3,420 degrees C). Its permanent attributes deem it to be the hardest metal on the planet. Tungsten carbide is analloy of elements including tungsten, tantalum, niobium, titanium and chromium.
